What data we collect and why we collect it

The Natural Contemplative does not currently collect any personal data from visitors. We do collect data for subscriptions to The Natural Contemplative Blog. Details of that policy are available here. Personal information submitted in our Contact forms is sent via outlook.com's SMTP servers. That information remains on their servers indefinitely, as would be the case with any email. We do not otherwise share that information with any party.

The Natural Contemplative does not use cookies.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. YouTube.com and Soundcloud.com are sites that are commonly embedded in our pages.

Although The Natural Contemplative does not collect personal information, we do collect site traffic data, including IP address, time and date, browser details (User Agent), and pages visited. This information is never shared with other parties and is used solely for internal analysis of which pages are most popular, and to protect against spambots.

What we do with your data

If you subscribe to receive blog posts via email, we use MailChimp as our list management platform. By subscribing, you acknowledge that the information you provide will be transferred to MailChimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms.

We will block IP addresses that are, in our judgement, engaged in spam or other attacks on the site.

We use site visit data to understand which pages are visited most often and to analyze the reach of the site.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely unless you request its removal. All other data (IP addresses, pages visited) is retained for one year unless you request its deletion or we need to retain it for site security purposes. For example, we need to retain certain IP addresses to secure the site against spam attacks.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, or have subscribed to the blog via email, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Blog subscription details are shared with Mailchimp as noted above. Contact form data is sent through outlook.com's mail servers. No other data is shared with any party, except for its presence on our web host's servers (AISO.net), to which the web host's employees may from time to time have access for maintenance or troubleshooting purposes.
